TASK: Find an awesome website and comment on why you love it. What kind of tools are on the site? What kind of content? What makes a website great from your perspective?
HOW DOES THIS RELATE TO DIGITAL MARKETING? Content is king on the internet and websites are simply pages of content. As a digital marketer it is your job to create awesome content to connect and capture your customers.
With my job, I do a lot of research on various companies and have been able to determine what I like about a website and what I don’t like. One website that I really like is www.gm.com. The site is very easy to navigate and you can find pretty much anything you could possibly want to know about GM there. Also, as the owner of a Chevy, I find it very helpful that I can download a copy of my owner’s manual, see any recalls that have been issued on my vehicle, read about and compare their other vehicles and find out about new developments at GM. Plus, if you own a GM vehicle and create an account (managed by Yahoo) you can also get updates on traffic and weather conditions, and they’ll give you tips on mechanic shops in your area that are best qualified to service GM vehicles. You can even upload service information so you know the last time you had your oil changed, tires rotated or got your brakes checked. Needless to say, I love this website!

IMDB.com is the internet movie database, that contains information on movies, TV shows, actors and video games. With their database you can find almost any production imaginable, the actors who worked on the project, along with various other facts. It is a convenient way to see ratings about movies and find movies that you might like based off your past preferences. Now you can even view recent TV episodes and selected movies. With 57 million views a month, I am not the only one who thinks IMDB.com is awesome.
IMDB has great searching capabilities/tools that allow easy navigation. It is something that I am interested in, and the advertising content is actually pertinent. I enjoy watching the previews of new movies, which is the main form of advertising.

I agree, I think GM.com is very easy to navigate. This is a big factor in finding an "awesome" website. If you can't find your way through it, it doesn't accomplish its purpose and people will leave. Also, the visuals make the site interesting.
The fact that they personalize it to your cars is great customer service. In an industry where repeating purchases is important, they are trying to establish a great brand here. All these small touches adds to an all-around great website.

The website I enjoy the most is ESPN.com. I follow most sports and this website helps me to do that. It is very easy to navigate and is loaded with tons of valuable information on pretty much any sport you are interested in.

After exploring nike.com earlier to customize my Michigan Tech shoe, I think that is the best website I have seen in quite some time. It is bold, colorful, organized, and interactive. I like how it is easy to tell where to click for what you want. I like the navigation bar, because when you run the mouse over a certain word or phrase, all of the options to click on appear so you can review them before making a choice. The only things I do not like are the noises when you click (I muted my computer so I wouldn’t have to hear them), and that there is not a lot of open space. I think they should reduce the clutter a little to make things clearer. I really like the organization of the website, which to me is the most important aspect.

Easy navigation is definitely one the keys to a website's success. I cannot stand it when I go to a website and constantly have to search all over the place to find what I am looking for. I really appreciate a side navigation bar that stays consistent throughout an entire website. For example, when I click on one option and then another from that next page, I like to be able to see what my original options were so I know that I am not missing out on anything.

My favorite website to visit is the Wall Street Journal at online.wsj.com. The site offers news, sports, health and fitness, finance, and other helpful news. Instead of subscribing to the newspaper you are able to conveniently visit their site. The site also offers videos on various subjects.

ESPN.com is a great site where you can watch highlights of most games. Easily the #1 sports website out there.

I'm pretty partial to Wikipedia. I understand that there are a lot of things that aren't the 100% truth there, but it does provide a lot of relevant information. I can get myself lost on Wikipedia, clicking on links within articles to learn more about something that is incorporated in another. It's a useful tool to find out chart information quickly on music, which I find handy in my line of work. I also tend to search around and find old TV shows and characters/actors and such that I used to watch. It's truly a great invention and I will battle critics who bash it's accuracy.

The good website I like is Wikipedia.com and the terrible website I think is www.163.com, a Chinese news website like yahoo. The reason I like Wikipedia is that it provides a powerful search engine inside the website and also well organizes its content. For example, if you want gain more knowledge on the term “automotive industry”, you simply need to search it, and the information about that term is listed. The page will first give a definition of the term, then a table of content will listed below, and if you want, let’s say history of automotive industry in Japan, what you should do is just quickly click on the contents, the page will automatically rolls down on that piece of information. This website does not only provide words, but also graphics and pictures that help us to learn more from it. So it really a helpful tools for our study. And now “ if you don’t know what it is, please wiki it” is what we say commonly in our daily life, yes, I go back to Wikipedia quite often (about 7 times a week I guess) whenever I need academic helps.

Yeah, I like ESPN.COM and visit it quite often

I agree. ESPN.com is very easy to navigate and it has everything a sports fan could want. I really like the live updates during games, and the video highlights are awesome.

I agree that it is nice to be able to watch some episodes and movies on imdb.com but there really aren't that many movies or episodes on there. It would be nice if instead they linked to other legal sites, such as the networks sites or other sites like hulu.

19.Awesome website–Digg.com because I enjoy reading news and other random things online and it compiles all of these into one site where I can search different categories if I so choose.
Horrible website--Any website in the Gawker Media Network such as gawker.com or i09.com. I find these sites layout to be very annoying. Also it just merely blogs about and refers to actual news articles instead of actually writing anything more than just opinion.

Web Site that I enjoy: www.ccs.com
~It’s a fun site to shop at.
Web Site that I hated: www.myfinancelab.com
~I feel that this site is far to confusing. I don’t like using this site for course work.

I think that ebay.com is an awesome website. They make online shopping so easy, the grab you by having auctions for items….if you’ve ever used it you know how much fun it is to win and how addicting it can be. They make it incredibly easy to pay for items too. They remember all of your info so all you have to do is click a few buttons and it will show up at your door. It suggests items that you’ve looked at before and shows you products that have deals that you might like.

Awesome web site – www.steepandcheap.com, I think the concept is really cool and it keeps users coming back all day long all year long. You never know what kind of deal is coming next.

I really like yahoosports.com. It keeps me updated on my teams and is easy to use. They also have online fantasy teams for a bunch of sports for free.

There is a website Hockeydb.com is a fun website for looking up the states of players from just about all ages and just about all eras. It is a great site to find out what team a player is playing for and who they have played for. I can even look up my own stats on the website and teammates that I have played with in the past. It is very easy to use and there are very few ads. Never an annoying pop up add and is usually a very easy website to manage.

The Website that I really like is mapquest.com. This is very useful because you can get directions anywhere. The direction might not always be the fastest way to get there, but they do get you there. I travel all the time and every time I got my directions from here. The site is easy to use, convenient, and helpful. There are other things you can do on the site like look up things in the yellow pages, see gas prices. It even has web links to finding homes, and cars. The things that make any website great are sites that are easy to use, helpful, and full of information.

I agree, this website is very useful when you want to find out information about an actor. Whenever I am watching a movie and I see someone that looks really familiar and I can’t figure out where I have seen them before, this website has complete bios on the actor, which is very helpful.

lhw.com is one that I like the most. It is the Leading hotels of the world. I am very in love with hotels and the website has readability and usability. It keeps me current with the best hotels of the world. Showing me what my competition will be... :)

I enjoy findyourspot.com. This website provides you with a quiz asking basic questions about where you would like to live and the basic attributes of what you want in climate, city size, house pricing, etc. After you answer these questions you are given a large list of places that pertain to the answers you gave as well as websites for open houses to buy, jobs in the area, things to do, etc. This website has lots of things to look at and is very interesting.

Ign.com is a fantastic website that is geared towards everything entertainment. The site is extremely clean, vivid and easy to navigate. It features a variety of media and other mediums to capture interest. The articles are very well written, whether they are music, game, movie or TV reviews. The website is update 6 days a week and serves as newsfeed as well.
Roadbike review.com is an atrocious website featuring awful color schemes and broken links. The entire webpage isn’t very attractive and I do not like going there, but, some of the information if legitimate.

The website that I find awesome is DrJays.com. This urban clothing website offers a great selection of clothes at great prices. I also like that you can sort the clothes you are interested in three ways, the most recent additions, lowest price first, and highest price first.

www.gamestop.com is my awesome website, because I like to see what games are coming out and what other gamers think of the games that are out or that are coming out. The site tells what's the date and time that the game is going to come out and you can post your thoughts on how you think the game is going to be before you play it and after the game has come out you can post a review on the game after you have played it and to let others know how the game was.
