Task #19 Tell me about a cool website
Tell me about a cool website and why it is relevant to you, why it is different and why you think it is a website that is here to stay. Maybe it will be a category on a blog in a future class.

The Apple website really draws my attention due to the interactive tour they have to offer. As a college student, I am always looking for more bang for my buck. Although Apple equipment is normally more expensive, they make up for the price with the experience that they have to offer.
The first thing you see when you enter their website is something catchy (like the snow leopard they currently have on their homepage). Not only does their homepage describe a product or feature, but also it gives a comforting feeling that they know what they are doing and what they have to offer you as their customer.
They give you your options at the top of the page, but they seem to always tie them back together no matter which tab you choose. If you choose the Apple store link, many different products welcome you. The thing I get caught up on is that if you purchase a Mac for college you receive a free iPod. That is where I get the bang for my buck.
This website is here to stay due to the increasing demand for a computer which can do many things at once. I currently have open on my computer MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator and Safari. They also offer certain features that allow you to have different programs open on different screens. In just seconds you can go from designing a logo to typing an essay without having to minimize Adobe and maximize MS Word. With a website that offers you so many options, how could Apple ever lose their edge. As long as they stay on top of the brink of technology, they should have no issues.

Upromise.com is a very unique site that has set the trend for thousands of other affiliate marketing sites. I’ve worked with that site during my internship this summer, and I’m assuming we’re going to be talking about affiliate marketing in this course sometime. It’s a real neat site in the way that consumers who would normally purchase something online can go to upromise.com first to find the store they want to make a purchase from. They can click on the store link from upromise.com and then make a purchase from whatever store they were originally looking for on their site like they normally would, and a percentage of that sale will go towards their college tuition.

The website I found that I thought was awesome is ffffound.com. This is a gallery for images that people upload. I like it because there is a lot of artsy, random and weird pictures of anything you could think of. Users are able to upload their favorite pictures they find online and ffffound.com will then recommend images you might like based off your tastes and interests.

I enjoy creativepro.com a lot. This is mostly because I am a graphic designer, and often need to surround myself with people that understand what I do on a daily basis. While most think all we do is play with photoshop all day, those who are in our field understand and relate to our every day challenges.
This is a site for tutorials, ideas, inspiration, articles, and shopping (for those that one some design nerdy apparel).
I'm very attracted to websites that feel like a community, which this site has done very well with blogs, podcasts, and groups.

I really like the site allmyfaves.com it offers direct links to most of the popular websites in one location. The top line of sites changes weekly and it is interesting visiting those sites to see what they are. I never would have known about them without allmyfaves.
A bad site I'll use is youbundle.com - too confusing.

My favorite website is imdb.com I use this site all the time. I always watch a show on tv or a movie and think "where have i seen this person before" and before I knew about this site, I couldnt remember and it would bother me for days. It's just a simple thing that bothers me, but this site comes in handy.

My favorite website is craigsslist.com because I am a frequent user of this site. I like the fact that the site is basically like the classified ads and allows you to buy and sell a variety of different products without having to go through a site which requires a service fee. The only issue with the site is that the pay options are hard to come by and often times you have to meet with your customer to deliver the products. Overall, I think this is a very good service and is a service of the people.

I agree that Apple offers a very user friendly service and offers a product that are different from many other sites from their advances in technology from the I-pod to other tools. I will continue to use this site in the future.

One of my favorite websites is www.fark.com. It has a collection of interesting links to news, sports and other stories from around the world. The website also adds a short commentary to each link that can give you an idea of what the story is about. The links are contributed by the readers of the website and picked by the administrators to be posted on the website. The site is also very easy to navigate and is updated daily.

One of my favorite websites is Facebook. It does everything from email to instant messaging to finding people you have not spoke to in years. I get to reconnect with my family and friends. I also love the fact that I have it on my phone. I have access to all my friends phone numbers I misplaced or forgot to enter into my phone.
It also is very interactive like games on it, or should I say applications. And finally it is very easy to work or navigate through.

One website that I visit a couple times a week is Gametrailers.com. The website is media driven and specializes in video game related content. It provides free access to original programming (such as reviews and previews), game trailers and various forms of game play. Many of the video clips are offered in high definition (960x540) along with standard definition (640x360). Users can upload videos, create blogs and participate in forums. The site is clean, easy to use and well organized, enabling effective search and navigation.

One of my favorite websites is www.Mesh.com. It’s Microsoft’s “Life Mesh”. Essentially it’s a free service that gives you a full 5GB (5,120 MB) of online space. You can download a free little application to your computer and select which folders you want to sync. This is especially useful if you’re using more than one computer. For example, I have my “School” folder synchronized. I can create a file on my laptop and save it in the “School” folder on my hard drive. In the background, Live Mesh synchronizes the folder to my online space. I then shut down my laptop, and an hour later I use my other computer. When I use that computer, I can go to my “School” folder and can open the document I worked on earlier. I like that Live Mesh does this in the Background and you can add several devices to sync with. Also, when I use a computer that’s not mine, I can go to the Live Mesh website to access my files. Some of my friend’s use Live Mesh as well, and I can have a shared folder with them. Instead of e-mailing files, I can simply put them in a local folder that I designate to share with selected friends. This makes it quick and easy to share documents, songs, videos, etc. with my friends. It’s also a great way to back-up your important files. Since it always keeps track of your synced folders and updates files when you update them, you can easily retrieve your files in the event of a hard drive failure. You can also easily connect to your other computer and use remote desktop if the computer is on. This is free, I have found it to be very reliable, uses very few system resources, and is user friendly. I highly recommend it!

The bad: http://www.marketingsphere.com/ it looks like it was created in the nineties and is very bland looking. I found that one trying to find an internet marketing blog.
The good: I guess I’ll go with hulu.com because since I don’t have cable it lets me catch up on shows that I enjoy watching. Plus I can watch them when I want and with far less commercials.

A website I find myself looking at often is http://www.indeed.com/ Indeed is a job search website that searches through job search websites. If you're looking for a job, use this site. Instead of going to jobs.com or monster.com, michworks.org, whatever you use, Indeed collects information from all of these websites, so you really can see a lot more jobs that are available as opposed to just a few on those other websites. You can also filter jobs by salaries or types. It's easy to use and updated frequently. Check it out!
